The Snatch

Scientifically and physically the most powerful lift is the snatch. In the snatch you take the bar from the ground to overhead in one fluid movement.

The Clean and Jerk

The clean and jerk take the barbell from ground to overhead in two movements. The Clean takes the barbell from ground to the front rack position (shoulders). Then the athlete will jerk the bar overhead, typically in a split stance.

Weightlifting has many accessory lifts to help strengthen the main lifts like back and front squats, pulls, deadlifts, bench and many more.
